History

DynaPel is a company with more than a decade of history.

1988-1992

Two Norwegian research scientists, Dr. Gudesen and Dr. Martens, began an R&D initiative that led to at least three successful technology companies, one of which is DynaPel. Their mission was to apply proprietary digital data analysis algorithms to video data to enable innovative multimedia applications in digital compression and enhanced, video-based interactive services.

1992-1994

In 1992, the company was incorporated in the US operating as "International Digital Technologies (IDT), Inc." Continued independent R&D work produced a demonstration of an advanced and unique form of digital compression technology.

1995-1999

With major funding by the Kirch Group of Germany, the company moved to a new lab in Munich, Germany in 1995. The 100% subsidiary "International Digital Technologies (IDT) Deutschland GmbH" was founded.

In the following period the company has built up the staff. It developed a strong technical capability and perfected the algorithms underlying the Company's core technology.

In 1999 the restructuring marked a turning point for IDT. The established company concluded the technology development phase and was tasked to begin the development of commercial products. The team of scientists and engineers in Munich in conjunction with US based Marketing commercialized the results of more than 50 man-years of research in digital video, motion estimation and video compression into IDT's first product: MotionPerfect, a commercial video editing tool.

2000-2003

Replacing the former company name "International Digital Technologies" - "DynaPel Systems, Inc." was registered in 2000.

DynaPel successfully and rapidly continued developing commercial products, licensing OEM software products for video editing to market leaders in the highly competitive consumer electronics sector during 2000. The company went on making OEM and consumer sales in this sector, winning awards and excellent reviews.

However, the company recognized that its technical capability could be exploited in products for a wide range of sectors, some of which offered a greater potential. In particular DynaPel decided to bring its specific experience into the development of the new MPEG-4 standard. It further determined to focus first on different products for the security surveillance industry and to streamline the organization to this end.

In 2002 DynaPel forced the development of Security Products. The first intelligent video appliances for the Security CCTV Industry are now ready for the market.

2004-2007

On December 22, 2004 the Oslo Stock Exchange has accepted DynaPel for listing on Oslo Børs.
DynaPel has expanded its product range of video analytics products based on a highly optimized in-house developed embedded hardware platform. DynaPel is considered the leader in automated PTZ camera control, implemented in the CloseView® appliance, DynaPel's flagship product. To strengthen its control of PTZ cameras, DynaPel started developing own PTZ cameras in partnership with large PTZ manufacturers. These PTZ cameras, Interceptor™ and EyeMax™ are designed for optimal performance in combination with DynaPel's CloseView appliance.

Effective April 1, 2006, DynaPel was awarded a Government Services Administration (GSA) Schedule. The schedule will allow authorized DynaPel dealers and integrators to make bids for security services and products through the US government.

On August 8, 2007, DynaPel completed the acquisition of Tempest Microsystems, Inc. Tempest is an innovative, fast-growing company based in Poway, California. The Tempest acquisition expands DynaPel`s product range into intelligent video storage technology and enables DynaPel to deliver complete surveillance systems. The Tempest acquisition further increases DynaPel`s distribution network and strengthens market reach, particularly in North America. Tempest`s intelligent Digital Video Recorders (DVR) platform will enable future combined products with increased built in video analytics capabilities, leveraging on-board processing capability.
